Buffy Easter Eggs! (Well…DVD Easter Eggs)

Come one, come all! Whether you celebrate Easter or not, be sure to check out three Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD Easter Eggs!

Easter Egg #1: “Once More, With Feeling” soundtrack cd/poster signing

Found On: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Six DVD set, Disc 2 (Should have Amber Benson’s lovely face on it!)

Read these directions if you are hunting for the Easter Egg via your DVD player and television (you’re using a remote); SCROLL DOWN if using a laptop/computer:

1. Pop that wonderful disc into your DVD player.

2. When the Main Menu is up, select “Once More, With Feeling.”

3. Select “Language Selection.”

4. Highlight “English for the hearing impaired

5. Press the left arrow key on your remote, and yellow B should appear next to your selection.

6. Click on that, press “enter” or the equivalent to that on your remote, and enjoy a little footage from the “Once More, With Feeling” soundtrack signing featuring a little Joss Whedon, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amber Benson’s hand, and some cool fans.

Read these directions if you are hunting for the Easter Egg via your laptop/computer:

1. Put the disc into your laptop/computer’s disc tray.

2. When the menu screen loads, click on “Once More, With Feeling.

3. Click on “Language Selection.

4. Highlight “English for the hearing impaired.

5. Move your mouse northwest from the selection until you see a yellow B appear:

6. Click on it and enjoy a little footage from the “Once More, With Feeling” soundtrack signing featuring a little Joss Whedon, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amber Benson’s hand, and some cool fans. 


 

Easter Egg #2: “Normal Again” call sheet download

Found on: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Six DVD set, Disc 5 (Should have Nicholas Brendon’s wonderful face on it!)

**IMPORTANT**This is one that you can only do on your computer/laptop. If you do it on your TV, it will only display a message telling you that you can download the call sheet via your computer.

These directions apply to a PC; I’m sure Mac users will be able to figure out the equivalent actions! If not, hit the comments and I’m sure some of the other good people who read this blog will help you out!

Directions:

1. Put the disc into your laptop/computer’s disc tray.

2. Minimize the actual DVD screen; you won’t need it.

3. Go to your computer’s “start” menu.

4. Click on “computer

5. You should see the Buffy disc under “Devices with Removable Storage

6. Right click on the icon, and select “open

7. Click on the call sheet, and check it out! It really makes you appreciate the hard work that goes into the show. I don’t even know what half the stuff means, but if you’re curious, I’m sure a quick “call sheet abbreviations” Google search would yield the results you’re looking for.

Easter Egg #3: A montage of one scene from every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Found on: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Seven DVD set, Disc 6 (Should have Nicholas Brendon’s wonderful face on it once again!)

Read these directions if you are hunting for the Easter Egg via your DVD player and television (you’re using a remote); SCROLL DOWN if using a laptop/computer:

1. Pop that wonderful disc into your DVD player.

2. When the Main Menu is up, select “Special Features.”

3. Highlight “The Last Sundown.

4. Press the left arrow key on your remote, and orange B should appear next to your selection.

5. Click on that, press “enter” or the equivalent to that on your remote, and enjoy a quick montage of a scene from every single episode of Buffy!

Read these directions if you are hunting for the Easter Egg via your laptop/computer:

1. Put the disc into your laptop/computer’s disc tray.

2. When the menu screen loads, click on “Special Features.

    Thanks for the information. Is this all of the Easter eggs there are? Just 3 of them total from all 40 discs on all 7 seasons? Also could you give a list of “Angel” Easter eggs from that show’s DVD’s too? Thanks.

      Hi Mike!

      As far as DVD Easter Eggs (the hidden menu features), there are in fact only 3 from all 40 discs, though I wish there were more! However, some people broadly define that term “Easter Eggs” concerning television and film and expand the definition to include little hidden/easily missed details within the media as well.       Lastly, I don’t believe there are any hidden DVD features on the Angel discs.
